When It Comes To Effectively Marketing Your Business Its All About The Words

The more I study modern day, 21st century marketing the more I realize that EVERYTHING is marketing.

From the words in a TV or newspaper advertisement, to the words on magazine covers, to the words on a cereal box. It’s all about WORDS, right? Words designed to get you to take action. And that my friend, is marketing.

Pay close attention next time you go to the grocery store or the drug store. You are constantly being marketed to with words. From the food you buy to the magazine cover that gets your head to turn at the checkout counter.

That being said, the internet has created a massive opportunity for the skilled marketer to thrive without doing the customary legwork and engaging in personal contact with their prospects by merely using words.

So how do you capitalize? Well, the one skill you need to focus on in order to succeed in effectively marketing your home business enterprise is…

Copywriting.

It should come as no surprise that your copywriting skills must take center stage if you want to succeed long term as a home business owner and entrepreneur. Simply put, copywriting is putting your sales message into, you guessed it: words.

Since the face to face encounter has essentially been eliminated you need to be able to convey your pitch through the words on the pages that your prospects are reading whether that be an email, a sales letter or an advertisement.

A great way to polish your copywriting skills, even if you’ve never written a single word of ad copy before, is to create what’s called a “swipe file.” This is just a file of already successful ad campaigns.

Swipe files are incredibly useful tools. Every major player in the direct marketing world keeps a swipe file and for good reason. Everybody gets stuck for words and ideas at some point. When this happens it’s good to have an example of past successes to go to and freshen your creative juices so to speak, and get the words flowing again.

What should your file consist of?

You should gather any material that has spurred you to take action, whether its purpose was to get you to buy something or just leave your name and email address. Copy the good stuff and study it. Realize what was in the ad that made you take action on the offer.

Look for layout designs as well. Bulleted lists are a big direct marketing tactic along with action words, headlines and sub headlines. You’ll notice certain words popping up along with questions and statements that are all fairly alike but are tailored to specific products and services.

That’s the key to a good swipe file. Gather a wide array of different styles from different copywriters and mold the message to your particular target audience. Study the material and write out many different versions of the same ad. Practice your art and perfect it.

A word of caution though. You never want to copy an ad word for word. That’s plagiarism and it’s illegal. In other words, don’t take the word copywriting literally here.

Use your swipe file as an aid only, to sharpen your copy writing skills and make you better at marketing because remember, at the end of the day, everything is marketing.

Whatever you do, do not take copy writing lightly. It is your ticket to success in every business endeavor you will ever take ownership of.

How Should You Review a Work at Home Business Opportunity?

One of the big challenges about starting a home business is getting past all the scams. There are many wonderful opportunities out there, but finding them is not easy. And there are so many opportunities that sound wonderful, yet turn out to be scams.

What can you do?

You need to learn how to review home business opportunities for yourself. While you can rely somewhat on what people say about them online, many will have a financial interest in making the opportunity sound good. This is not helpful if they’re promoting a scam.

There are some sites that can help. You can check with the BBB, but that is not always a reliable indicator. The Ripoff Report website is a good resource too.

The challenge is that if an opportunity is new, there won’t be any obvious negative information to be found. How do you cope then?

The first thing to do is to look at what you are being told up front about the opportunity. What does it cost you? What will you be doing? How will you earn money?

All of these should be realistic. You should not be earning primarily from recruiting, for example. Similarly, if earnings claims are made, ask for the backup documentation. If earnings claims are made and the opportunity costs more than $500, the FTC requires the earnings claim to be backed up in writing. Even if the opportunity costs less than $500 it’s a good idea to ask how they arrived at that number.

Ask to talk to other people who have joined the opportunity. You will have to watch out for shills, but a person who is really working a new opportunity should be able to tell you the good and the bad about it. Try to get contact information for several people, not just one or two. If you can get in contact with people you can meet in person, so much the better.

Google and other search engines are also good resources. Type in the business name with the word scam, and see what you come up with. You will probably want to use quotation marks around the name of the business, but have the word scam outside the quotes. Try it both ways if you’re having trouble getting results.

Make sure you take your time deciding if you want to join an opportunity. If the opportunity is good, there’s no need to rush. If you’re being pressured for a fast decision, it may not be the best idea to join the opportunity. Legitimate ones won’t have to worry that you’ll find negative information, after all.

You should always do your research when it comes to a home business opportunity. You’ll protect yourself and save yourself a lot of frustration. There are great opportunities out there.

Paid Surveys - The Mystery Of Paid Surveys

Has it always been a mystery to you as to how people continue to make money from paid surveys, while you make nothing? Well there are a few things those people know that you don’t. Some of these things include -

Hunting Down Those Cash Paying Surveys

One of the biggest mistakes people make in this industry is they don’t attempt to target paid surveys that pay in hard cash! The majority of people spend half their time applying to surveys that only offer rewards in the form of gifts and services. If you plan on making any money at all in this business, then stick well clear of this particular surveys, because all you’re going to get in return is a bunch of junk sprayed all over your house!

Not surprisingly, the majority of paid surveys out there don’t pay in cash and it’s up to you to find those sites, sometimes taking a full day just to find one to apply for. Which brings us to our next point…

Are You A Member At A Directory?

In this game, time is everything. We just don’t have enough time to apply for every paid survey on offer, so we must choose only the one’s we are likely to attain a place in. Now if you did this manually you would have to build a list of several hundred of these sites, probably taking you weeks to accomplish.

That’s where joining a directory can help. Being a member of a paid survey directory, will give you access to all the new and most importantly ‘upcoming’ paid surveys. All you have to do is log in and check to see if applications are being taken for certain surveys. It’s highly important that you login at least 3 times a day, so that you can get your application in before anyone else, bringing us to our next point…

Making Your Application

Making a paid survey application can be one of the most important things you do as it will be the determining factor for whether or not you get a place in the paid survey on offer. There are some things you can do to spice up your application to ensure you get an opportunity to take part.

First of all, who are you and what makes you special? What separates you from the bunch? What do you have to your name that people will stop and say “wow that’s very interesting!” Because one of the determining factors, is whether or not your application stands out.

Second of all you HAVE TO make sure you enter in every little detail about yourself, even if you think it’s silly. A lot of the time the company in question is looking for one minute detail, so make sure you put down everything to give yourself the best chance of coming across this little thing they are looking for!

How to Start a Home Business With a Minimum Budget

One of the biggest complaints people have about choosing a home business is that they don’t have the money to spend on one. Their budget is stretched tight - that’s why they want to start a business anyhow. They need the money but want to stay at home.

Many home businesses don’t cost all that much to get started, however. Pick the right business and you won’t have to spend much at all to have a chance to bring in some income.

You can rarely start a home business without any investment at all. Business cards, for example. They don’t cost much, but they can be quite helpful in appearing professional to the people you meet. Hosting a website can be done for free, but if you want a domain name and a good host, you’re going to have to spend at least a little. But it can be had for under $100/year.

Perhaps you have a skill you could offer as a service. Running errands for people, website design, tutoring, being a virtual assistant… you may have just about everything you need to run one of these businesses already. All you need are clients.

Affiliate marketing is also quite popular, if quite challenging. Many people start this on free hosts such as Blogger.com, then move on to paid hosting as they earn enough money. Affiliate programs are generally free to join, and you figure out how to get people to buy through your links.

This is not as simple as throwing up some links and hoping. That’s one of the most common mistakes. You have to give people a reason to click through and make a purchase. Reviews are a popular way to do this. Keep it honest, mention the negatives as well as the positives, and gain people’s trust by providing quality information.

Whatever kind of home business you start, you need to love what you’re doing and know that there are other people who love the results of what you do. If no one wants to buy from you, there’s no point to being in business.

One of the best things you can do for your home business is to reinvest in it. If you don’t need the earnings urgently for something else, find a way to use it to make your home business better. Over time this can help you to earn still more money.

It’s not easy starting a home business on a tight budget. But there are many options that cost very little money to get started, yet it is entirely possible to earn money from them. There are no guarantees of success in business; only your own efforts will determine your success in the long run.

Is Starting a Home Business Easy?

Hundreds of individuals search the net everyday on how to increase their income and find a way to start a suitable home business. It would be wonderful if people could make lots of money online in the comforts of their home with minimum work, but is starting a home business really that easy and is it possible to earn? Does it need much understanding, facts, and knowledge?

Many of the home business ads or emails you receive each day make it sound that it is very easy to earn heaps of cash online. As you may be aware, there are lots of scammers in the home business field who are trying to sell us some bogus home opportunities or some old information which are not successful anymore. They do not work anymore and you lose your money. I personally wanted to research and study this field and find out if there were any genuine, honest people who could assist me in setting up my own home business- which made me a decent online income without having to invest big amounts of cash into it.

During this study for a successful home business model, a very familiar thing, which I found out, was that individuals were not as honest. They wanted more cash once you paid the initial setup fee. Also, some had terrible customer service and you can guess that all they wanted was your money with all of those fake home business websites out there. Many of these so called easy money making websites were not as easy after all. The excellent sales letters and pitching make us believe it is easy, but once you pay for it through your nose, you find out that you have to work very hard and put in great amount of effort to earn the amount of income they promise. So the question is now- were there any more successful and honest home business websites who were eager to assist us in making money online?

I somehow managed to locate a small number of honest business opportunities that were operated by friendly people who did assist me in setting up my successful home business. These people did not promise me $10,000 a week income, like many others, but enough to quit my day job in some cases. Some individuals have successfully used these systems to earn hundreds of dollars each day.

So Why Do You Do What You Do In Your Home Business?

This topic is a favorite of mine. I’m about to share with you a very, very vital (yet overlooked) technique that never fails. That’s right. Never fails. I always stress this technique when I’m coaching new Home Business Owners and Entrepreneurs. Works like a charm.

As a matter of fact, I’m even giving you some homework this weekend because I think the dog days of summer may be getting the best of you and I want to keep you sharp.

So let’s dive in…

In today’s society we often put a lot of emphasis on how things are done. Present a plan with lofty goals to the board of directors of any company and surely they will ask you how you suppose those goals will be met. Apply for a mortgage and you will be asked to demonstrate how you plan to pay it off. Give a professor the correct answer to a complex question and chances are you’ll be asked how you arrived at your conclusion.

The HOW is often so predominant that the WHY is sometimes completely forgotten, as if the why is of less importance. Nothing could be further from the truth. Why you want something is infinitely more important than how you think you’re going to achieve it.

Phew. That was tiring just to write. Did you get all that?

If you’re reading this newsletter today, chances are you’re a Home Business Owner and Entrepreneur and there is a reason why? But do you know the reason why?

I hope you do. But if you don’t (and most don’t), then it’s time you found out. If you’re not achieving the results you would like to be achieving in your Home Business enterprise, chances are very good that this is why (no pun intended).

Stay with me now. It’s gut check time. To find out what you’re why is may just be as simple as identifying what it is that you want, right? Everyone knows what they want, right?

Wrong.

It’s a bit more challenging than one would think. Ask an adult to write down everything they want on a list with a minimum of 10 items and you will find that for most it turns out to be quite difficult.

Stating that you want a certain amount of money, want to quit working or just want a bigger car than your neighbor can cause people to experience discomfort. After all, it may make them appear greedy or lazy and that’s not generally considered positive. So they try to come up with something that’s socially acceptable and in doing so, make what they want subject to the opinions of others. Not good.

Here’s the interesting part: kids on the other hand have no problem here. They’ll come up with 10 items and more in no time, listing things you didn’t even know exist. They don’t worry about what others may think of it, whether it makes them look greedy, lazy or whatever. All they know is that they want it. Fascinating when you think about.

You see, kids have not yet been brainwashed or conditioned into thinking that they can’t have certain things. They just assume they can have anything they want, right?

And so can you. You just may not realize it yet. Here’s a very effective exercise for you that will really bring to light exactly what it is that you want from your home business or in life so you can pin point your why.

Chances are you’ve never done this: Figure out what it is that you don’t want first and what you do want will become crystal clear. This is a technique called “clarity through contrast” and it basically states that when you observe what it is that you don’t want in life it then delivers clarity which makes it clear what you do want.

Easy enough right? Here comes the hard part. Write it down now. Make a list of the things you don’t want in life. It will only take you a few minutes and it’s actually a pretty fun exercise because when you actually come to terms with what you don’t want it becomes clear what you do want. The peace of mind you will experience by being clear is just, well you’ll see.

After you’ve identified what it is you want, then you get to your all important why.

So why would you want all those things? Again, kids have the upper hand here. They’ll be quick to point out why they want it all: mostly the fun they will have and the popularity it will give them. Ask an adult why they want something and you’ll enjoy watching the expression on their face. You’ll see them searching for an answer.

Why would you want to be rich? Why would you want to quit working to have your own home business? What would you do if you no longer had to go to a job every day? You may decide you want a bigger house than anyone in your family before you ever had.

But what does that do for you? Would you sleep better? Would it make your life better? Would it make you happier? Whatever it is, it’s critical that you know.

Exactly how you plan to achieve your success is far less important, especially early on. Too much focus on the how early in the process can have a devastating effect. It could paralyze you. I call it “analysis paralysis.”

If your financial situation is so bad that you’re actually below broke then achieving financial independence can seem so far fetched that reaching it appears impossible. You might sell yourself on the idea that it’s so far out of reach that you couldn’t possibly make it happen in this lifetime. As much as that may seem true at the time, it doesn’t have to become your reality. Don’t be sold.

However, in order to get there you will probably have to overcome some serious hurdles. And for that to happen, you need a reason to get up and take the necessary action. That reason needs to be strong enough to pull you through the tough times that inevitably will come. That reason is your WHY.

History is packed with unbelievable stories of accomplishment. People facing seemingly insurmountable odds who overcame obstacles you wouldn’t believe. Individuals with relentless determination who decided to push on in situations where most people would give up.

Why is it that so many people throw in the towel when things don’t go their way and only a small number of people seem to persevere?

It’s not because they are genetically stronger and it’s not because they have been dealt a better hand in life. What sets them apart is their why. That’s what keeps them in the game. Their why is so strong that whatever gets in their way, they will find a way to deal with it. They don’t have all the answers, but what they do have is an inner conviction that they can and will find the answers. And they are crystal clear about what they want.

Nailing down your why is one of the most powerful ways to improve your chances of success with your home business. So make sure that you know what your why is. Find it and refine it over and over again. Make it so strong that achieving it becomes an absolute must for you and the how will absolutely reveal itself to you over time. Trust me.

What Is Your Home Business Target Market?

Running a home business is difficult because of the multiple duties you take on. You are responsible for the content produced, generating traffic through intriguing marketing and advertising, and dealing with all of the customers. However, determining your home business target market is just as every other aspect.

It is simply impossible to appeal to every person in the world, which is why it is so vital to determine your online business target market. By finding the target market for your business, you can get a better understanding of how to arrange your website. You can still have your own style of writing and creativity, but now you can base it off a certain group of people.

Your home business target market is the ideal prospect to purchase your products, which is why it is ever so important you take the time to adjust your website to meet their needs. Take the time to research what people are looking for across the web. Once you identify what’s popular and what’s not, you can then include various things associated with your website to help reel in your target market.

There are several programs online that can assist you in identifying the keywords that your home business target market is searching for. Some will cost you money to view while others are free of cost. Pixelfast and Wordtracker are a couple of programs that allow you to find the most popular keywords searched for free.

Once you know the keywords that are being searched, you can adjust the way you write your content to make it more appealing. By highlighting the various keywords and making them stand out within your content, a couple of things will come from this. First, it will make it much easier for your reader’s to find what they are looking for on your site. Second, your keyword optimization efforts will help you climb higher on the natural listings of the search engines, thus increasing your traffic.

As you may already know, the internet is expanding and changing by the day. To stay with your competition and continuously offer your online business target market what they are looking for, you have to adapt to the way the internet is changing. This means posting fresh and enticing content on a daily basis and offering insight to what is going on with the internet.

Knowing your online business target market will help you connect with your readers and offer enticing content. If you are out of touch with your readers, all you are doing is taking up space on the web. You have the power to put whatever you want on your website, but your home business target market has the power to accept or reject your website. Take the time to get to know your target market and I guarantee you it will be well worth the time.
