Deal With Stress While You Work at Home

Working at home is not free from stress and anxiety. Some people start working at home thinking that they are going to find it a lot more stressful and free from a lot of the anxiety that plague people who work standard employment with an employer. This is quite a wrong perspective to take and it needs to be acknowledged that those who work at home need to take care of their stress level.

Reasons for stress in a work at home business can be caused by a variety of factors. These factors include the normal reasons why a person may be stressed at work but there are others which may be less evident in traditional employment. The major reasons for stress are the need to balance a person’s working and personal life. It can be caused by the need to make your home based business profitable. After all it is no good working for ones self, if no money is being made from working this way. There can also be the stress of isolation. Working at home takes people away from the social network, which is a part of normal employment.

Stress is not uncommon in the workplace. Many people overlook the level of stress that is involved and this unfortunately can lead to medical conditions developing without a person being aware of the danger they are in. High blood pressure is referred to as the silent killer. Many people allow stress get to them and this in turn leads to high blood pressure leading to strokes and heart attacks. Other health problems include stomach discomfort and nausea. This makes it doubly important that stress is dealt with by taking care of oneself.

How then does one take care of themself? There are a number of ways a person may be able to do this. These include natural stress remedies, rest, exercise and drinking water.

There are a number of natural stress remedies. Some can be quite simple. For example if you have stomach discomfort you can take peppermint. Peppermint is available in a number of forms including candy and gum. The problem with this of course is that candy and gum can contain plenty of sugar so it may not be the healthiest remedy available. A better remedy using peppermint is organic peppermint tea. Other natural stress remedies include:

1. Vitamin C: Natural remedies that are rich in Vitamin C include citrus fruits such as oranges, strawberries, the skins of baked potatoes, raw green cabbage, cantaloupe.

2. Calcium is good for the rhythm of the heart. It also assists with the contractions of muscles and nerve impulse transmission. When a person is under stress they tend to lose calcium from the body. Sources of calcium include dairy products tofu, almonds and broccoli.

3. Magnesium can stop a person from getting muscle cramps. Magnesium is found in green vegetable including spinach, nuts and seeds.

4. Omega-3 fatty acids reduce the likelihood of developing coronary heart disease brought about through stress. Omega 3 is obtained from salmon, tuna and other fish flaxseed oil and walnuts. The problem with natural fish oils is that it commonly contains mercury therefore it is probably best to get omega 3 from especially manufactured health products.

Other Remedies as already said include rest, water and exercise:

Many people experience nervous breakdowns because they are tired. This is brought on by the stress experienced due to being overworked and over tired. Therefore it is important that you ensure that you have proper rest throughout the day and that you do not carry your worries to bed with you. It may appear contradictory but if you rest during the day and ensure you have plenty of sleep at night you will actually find that you will achieve more at work. The reason why this is so is that you are much more relaxed and able to apply yourself effectively to your daily tasks.

Another reason why people begin to feel more and more stress is because they ingest large amount of alcohol or caffeine, which can cause anxiety and dehydration. To avoid feeling stressed out as often, cut back on the caffeine and make sure that you drink enough water to remain properly hydrated.

It is also important to exercise to keep the body and mind fit. Therefore take time off during the day from your work at home business to go for a jog or for a swift walk. You might also find a variety of ways to get exercise depending on what sports or activities you enjoy.

An interesting way being developed on the internet, which can help you, relieve your stress is to play online games. These online games are not just for teenagers or young people. All ages can benefit from playing games online. Online games enables your mind to be diverted from the worries and stresses of work and replenishes the mind to work more intently on other more serious aspects of your life including your work at home business.

The Perfect Home Business Model For The 21st Century

So I was at my favorite Starbucks the other day down here in South Beach, Miami doing some work as I often do a few days a week. Being a Home Business Owner is great but sometimes you just need to get out of the home office once and awhile to mix things up a bit. Not to mention, Starbucks resembles a virtual office environment more and more these days. Entrepreneurs on lap tops drinking coffee everywhere you turn.

Anyways, I couldn’t help but over hear what appeared to be a “job” team meeting going on that was led by the office manager for this particular company. She was literally reading a set of rules and procedures to these folks about what they could and could not do in the office that sounded more like a 2nd grade orientation than a meeting amongst grown employees. I was actually pretty shocked.

So I couldn’t help but think about 2 things:

1. How thankful I am to be a full time, self employed Home Business Owner and Entrepreneur that does not have to abide by those rules ;) and…

2. The famous Cash Flow Quadrant.

If you’re not familiar with the Cash Flow Quadrant you really need to be. This revolutionary concept was created by best selling author, financial expert and multi-millionaire Entrepreneur Robert Kiyosaki and has allowed him to go on to sell 20 million books world wide as a result.

In a nut shell…

The Cash Flow Quadrant is made up of 4 different types of people who make up the world of business - ALL 4 with completely different types of core values. If you haven’t seen it, it looks like this:

E for Employees (the folks at Starbucks)

S for Small Business Owners or Home Business Owners (You)

B for Big Business Owners (Donald Trump)

I for Investors (Hopefully You)

Kiyosaki says there is “a whole new set of rules out there for those who want to be rich.” Rules many are still not aware of, believe it or not.

Chances are the folks at Starbucks who were having those rules and procedures read to them have no idea that the S, the B or the I Quadrants are even available to them.

So of all the business models Robert Kiyosaki supports within the Cash Flow Quadrant, the “Direct Sales” Business Model is his favorite and he calls it the perfect business model of the 21st Century. He says: “Its not money that makes you rich, its business skills” and this is the industry where those skills are taught from the ground up, without the big price tag.

Kiyosaki also mentions the importance of control. If you’re not actively building a business you have very little control. This is an incredibly important point and one that should not be taken lightly.

Because remember, “its not money that makes you rich, its business skills” and many of those skills can be taught in the Direct Sales industry.

Paid Surveys - Paid Surveys And Focus Groups

Have you been considering trying out paid surveys and focus groups for a source of quick and easy money? Let me guess, you’re someone that doesn’t have a lot of time but you could definitely do with a little extra cash in your back pocket for when it comes time to pay the bills at the end of the month? If this is you then getting involved in online paid surveys and focus groups is a great way to use the little time you have to make a bit of extra cash each month.

So What Are They Basically?

There are a lot of companies out there who are desperate to find out how their market thinks and what they want. That’s why they hire market research companies to create surveys in accordance to their products and services and hire members of the public to take part in them(that’s you and me!)

A lot of companies pay rewards in the form of non cash prizes, which are the one’s you want to have nothing to do with. You’re whole aim should be to apply to paid surveys that pay cash rewards, usually around $10-$20 per 15-30 minute survey you complete. Because in the end that’s all that matters. You’re in it for the money, not a whole bunch of prizes that you’ll be unlikely to ever use!

Now we’ve talked about paid surveys, but there are also things we call focus groups which is basically a group chatroom where you will get asked a series of questions and all they are looking for is your opinion on certain topics. They usually go for around 30 minutes and the rewards are generally a little higher and sometimes a lot, depending on the focus group you are taking part in.

There are some focus groups that have huge payouts, sometimes over $100 if you are lucky. It is a little harder to get picked for these focus groups, however if you make sure you spend enough time applying and checking to see when new ones are opening, you’ll have a good chance to be apart of them.

In the end, the more time and effort you are willing to put in will determine whether or not you make money from paid surveys and focus groups. And when I say time, that usually only means an hour or two a day searching and applying. I’m sick of hearing people saying they can’t make any money from paid surveys. These people are usually the one’s that could not be bothered to put the time in everyday. If you are a naturally hard working person, then you’ll have a good chance at making some good money each month from taking part in paid surveys and focus groups.

Finding Work at Home Jobs When You’re Desperate

I hear from moms desperate to work at home pretty regularly. Sometimes they badly need a job so that they can continue to support their families. They want to know how to get a fast start working at home.

The first thing I always tell such people is that if you cannot support your family, get a job. Any job that will pay enough, even if it’s outside the home. You may have to struggle and figure out who can watch the kids while you work, but do what you must to support your family. Finding a work at home job should be secondary to finding a way to support your family.

I also tell them the simple truth. It takes most people a long time to find legitimate work at home that is sufficient to support a family. It’s just tough out there.

But I Really Want to Work from Home!

Once you have things going well enough that you can afford to spend some time on finding the right job or opportunity to do from home, you are in a much better position to make it all work. It’s time to start figuring out what it is you want to do.

The first thing to do is figure out if you are after a work from home job or a home business. It makes a difference. The jobs are harder to get, but it is generally harder to earn from a business, since there is no guarantee that you will be paid for your efforts in a business.

You also need to figure out what it is you want to do. What kind of job do you want or what sort of home business do you want to research?

What About the Scams?

Knowing how to avoid being scammed is key. A great place to start reading is the FTC.gov website. They give you some basic information on the most common scams.

For work at home jobs, the thing to look out for is if they are trying to charge you just to apply. Real companies don’t need a fee to see if you are serious. Going through job applications is just a cost of doing business for them.

You’ll also want to make sure that what you will be doing is legitimate. There are payment processing and reshipping scams out there that can get you into legal trouble. Any job you look at, look carefully at what you will be doing and who you will be working for.

But Isn’t There a Fast Way to Get Started?

Some people do get started and successful faster than others. A few lucky souls do manage to land a work at home job right out of the gate. Others start a home business and are almost immediately successful. There’s no one way to success, however. It really depends on you.

If you’re looking for a fast way to get started there are a few options. One is to start contacting local businesses and offering your services. You could be a virtual assistant, for example. There’s less competition on a local level in many cases, and so this can be a fast start. It still takes research and persistence, as not every company you contact will have need of your services.

Other services you could consider offering are errand running, daycare, tutoring and computer support.

Some people do well with blogging. If money is a big issue, you can go with a free Blogger.com account. Do some research and pick a good topic. Post regularly and comment on other blogs to try to build up your readership. You can use AdSense or affiliate marketing to earn money.

Most will earn perhaps a few bucks a month from this, but others will be quite successful

Better is to get your own domain name and hosting. This gives you more control and no fear of having your blog deleted. Most hosts include one-click Wordpress installation, making setting up a blog pretty easy.

Whatever happens, do not let desperation get the best of you. Desperate people are more likely to fall for scams. Keep your senses about you and don’t be afraid to ask for advice on forums about particular opportunities. Asking can save you a lot of money and heartache.

Home Based Business - Part Time Full Time Work

Many people who start up a home based business either do not or think they have not, enough money to live on. Some have enough money to live on but not at their desired standard of living. Many of these people decide to start up a home based business. Normally this also means a decision to work both full time and part time. The full time employment is typically with an employer who pays a full time income. The part time work is undertaken at home while enough income is built up to self sufficiency. Normally it is hoped that in time the home based business will enable the person to dispense with their regular full time paid employment.

Not everyone is successful at building up their part time home based business. My brother-in-law was one of the lucky few that was able to achieve his goals and greatly exceed his former income to a point of becoming a millionaire. I am still working towards that level of success and am therefore fully aware of the stress caused by having a dual source of employment income. This puts a toll on my personal life and creates tension between when and where to work and how to divide my time between work and my family. This raises a number of considerations.

For many the first consideration is does your work at home business create a tension with your employer. Fortunately this has never been a problem in my case but certainly it was a conflict that my brother-in-law had to face. Some employers will not tolerate competition from one of their employees. For example my brother after receiving permission from his boss started to sell products that his boss did not want to sell but was along the same line of product. My brother was so successful in selling this product that his boss gave him an ultimatum. Either he had to give up his part time job or resign from his full time employment. He chose, to his great fortune, the first option. This conflict faces a lot of people trying to start up their own business. Some have no other option but to give up their home based business.

Another consideration of having both a full time paid job and a part time work at home business is the stress that it might have on family life. A person with a family will need to know that any time needed to run the home business will have to come from time usually spent with the family. It has a toll on recreation and social interests and family functions. There is in effect a three way split which impacts on the whole three issues of full time, part time and family life. The tension that this has on the family may not be worth the time and effort spent in building your home based business.

Most home based businesses can fortunately be worked at the number of hours and at the appointed times of the business owner. In some cases, there are home business opportunities that require little time and enable it to be run at the convenience of the owner. This enables time to be properly allocated to the family and does not impact on full time employment. Nevertheless this does not get away from the fact that the time spent on the home based business will still take a worker away from personal involvements and recreation activities and cause at least some stress.

Time management under these circumstances becomes imperative. There needs to be a balance between having two jobs and the family. It is often very important to work out a schedule and work at the specified times allocated to all the commitments that arise. Balancing full time and part time work along with family responsibilities although difficult is not impossible. In due time if your home based business becomes successful then you will find that you can leave full time employment with someone else and work full time at your more profitable home based business. This will enable you to become more financially independent and allow you to have more time with those whom you love.

Online Home Business Opportunity From Anywhere In The World

At about 10 years ago, it did not occur to me that anyone from anywhere in the world could build a global home business, right from the comfort of their own home. Of course, network marketing has already been around and that probably was my only thought of a business that could easily go global.

However, with the easy access to the internet, you can now choose many types of businesses that you can participate and earn money from other foreign countries. For some, it is another alternative of making a side income. For many others, it becomes a full time business with unlimited potential to grow.

There are probably hundreds, if not thousands, of businesses that you can get involved. Sometimes, what it takes is just a little creativity and you are probably looking at a million-dollar worth of business venture.

But, let’s not get carried away and scrutinize all the possibilities. Instead, let’s see some of the ways to build a home business (a business you can run right from your living room) with a simple connection to the internet.

1. Sell Information Product

This is one easy way to make money online from your own home. The more popular choice is to create a digital informational product such as an electronic book or software and sell it directly from your own website.

An electronic book is simply a document that you can format it to pdf (use Adobe software). It can contain information about your hobby, interest or anything that people are willing to buy.

2. Sell Physical Product

If you visit eBay today, I’m sure you’ll be able to easily spot one or two junks that people are selling. These could be your old books, furnitures, CDs and anything that you don’t want to see in your house.

To you, these products might not be valuable anymore, but to others, they might be something that they really need to own.

What you need to do is auction these products on auction sites like eBay and ship the products to the buyers (who could be anywhere in the world).

3. Sell Your Service

There are many people who are selling their services online and their clients are from all over the world.

We call them freelance writers, translators, graphic designers and they can be seen on many freelance sites such as Rent-A-Coder.com or eLance.com.

To be in business is easy. You’ll just have to register with these freelance websites and start bidding the price for the service that you provide.

In all, there are many more businesses on the internet that you can do. Some require products to sell. Some don’t.

Personally, I prefer to sell my own and other people’s products. The latter is easier since I don’t have to deliver the products or handle customer issues. What I need to do is sell other people’s products to any customers on the planet and get a percentage on the sale commissions.

How To Use Dry eBay Auctions To Your Advantage

Some auctions get many bids, but some go much more slowly. Auctions are slower during the summer as opposed to Winter months.

Sales on eBay are slowing each year, as more sellers than buyers sign up, hoping to get rich quick. There are a number of ways that you can take advantage of slower auctions to get the best price for your bid.

Wait Before Bidding.

If you decide to place your bid, the item grows in popularity, and the more people become interested potential bidders. This is great for the seller but not so much for the buyer, as it potentially will increase the end price of the auction, which to a buyer, ruins the whole point of an
auction.

Use Best Offers To Steal The Deal.

If the seller is selling an item using the eBay Best Offer feature, and it still has not sold when the auction is about to end, then make the seller an offer. They will normally only be too happy to accept. Best Offer listings are usually determined on the previous saleability of the item in question. If the item has struggled to sell, then this is an indication of why this feature has been added to the listing. You will be sure to grab a bargain, so take advantage whilst you can.

Be A Critique Buyer.

Politely scrutinise the item for sale, by emailing the seller, and making it clear that you do not want to purchase a poor quality item. This will make the seller easier to negotiate with thus boosting your chance of a bargain.

Do Not Feel Guilty.

There really are too many sellers on eBay now, to the point where you can get common items at very low prices. Long-term, this will probably force those sellers out of business, but that is the way a market works - it is supply and demand. When approaching auction sellers, it is a buyers market, stay positive and in control of the outcome of your approach.

Bulk Buy Negotiations.

Use negotiation tactics with the seller during slow auction periods on eBay. Approach the seller and make sure you offer to buy many more than one item they have for sale. This way you can basially control the price they sell for. Plus if you secure one deal, the seller will be favourable to do business with you again, for a bulk deal.

Using eBay correctly takes a slight learning curve of trial and error. It becomes easier the longer you spend using these techniques. As I solely sell information products in the form of eBooks, these rules still apply. No matter what you sell on eBay, these techniques will help you secure the deal you deserve!
