Why Don’t We Aim For The Best
The other day I attended a seminar on internet marketing. The major focus is on pay per click (PPC) marketing. The class discussed how pay per click can help on providing the exposure to the public who look for the information they want through a certain key words. The one who search will see a group of advertising messages mixed along with the information sites. Some of the consumers do not even know that they see the advertising messages. Anyway, there are many ads in one page.
The discussion went on that the positions of the ads are also related to the price the advertisers need to pay. The higher position may generally result in higher cost of advertising. The instructor emphasized that in the competition mode, he always looked for all the possibility on being number one in the ranking. When he was asked why since we could pay less and the second and the third is reasonably good enough for the people to see. He answered that this was not necessary true since if we managed well, we could still be in number one with less cost.
He later explained that the major goal that he has is getting the most traffic and the lowest possible cost into his site. He already knows how to be in number one position. Why doesn’t he want to aim for it?
Although some of us may not be interested in internet marketing, we know that the site is like the shop we have and we have determined the objectives for each shop. One of the objectives should be that we want the shop to be exposed to the highest number of visitors so that most people can enjoy the value that our site provides. Therefore being in the best position will most match our ultimate goal.
This is the same in life. People tend to compete and slow down when they are closer to their winning line. The research has shown that in the running race. Normal people tend to slow down once the winning line appears to their eyes. This is not applicable to professional runners or the trained runners. They know that their achievement is determined by the time. They know that this gives all the meaning to why they run for the past minutes or hours. They want to be in number one position since they know that the reward of being number one is significantly higher in number two or three. They know that their self esteem can go up to the roof if they win number one. They want the feeling of fulfillment at the end of the process. They want the juice.
This can also happen in our life if we know the meaning of being number one. Being the best is not easy but it is very rewarding. Some how we may not be able to be number one because we are not trained to do so. Believe it or not, everybody can be number one in doing anything if he knows how to train his mind enough. Other skills can be learned afterwards but the process start with our mindset. From now on, let’s determine that whatever we do, we will do our best. If we can be in number position, why don’t we? Make it a habit. Once it is our habit, it will shape our character. Once it is our character, it will shape our destiny.
